KRISTIN MESSERLI

Hi, I’m Kristin!

I am passionate about improving financial wellness in our communities because I believe some very basic education could change a lot of lives, from income inequality to improved health outcomes.

I am currently the co-founder and executive director of FirstHome IQ, a nonprofit focused on delivering education to the next generation. After 10 years, I sold the company, Cultural Outreach, focused on reaching young and diverse markets.

I started my career in social work, primarily working in the unhoused and immigrant communities, where I found that the way we deliver education is just as crucial as the education itself. For people who have lost trust in a system, creating a safe space with consistency and empathy is the only way to making any impact. I have since taken that model to helping educators and professionals build trust in their communities with a consumer base that feels the system (many systems) have failed them.

I have studied psychology, philosophy, financial planning, and hold a Master in Public Administration, and I have leveraged all of these fields to bring a unique perspective to business strategy.

Here’s a little info about my background, and what makes my expertise valuable to my clients!

A Little About Me…

I started in Social Work

I worked predominantly with recent immigrants and the unhoused, both locally in Oklahoma and some internationally. The biggest learning during my time in that role was the importance of building trust with traumatized or skeptical clients. I utilized a Trauma-Informed approach, which I have integrated into my speeches and consulting.

I Built a Multicultural Marketing Agency

In 2012, I started a business with the mission of helping financial institutions better reach and serve young and diverse consumers through financial literacy and homeownership. In 2020, I sold Cultural Outreach to NAMMBA and continue to support their mission to support sustainable homeownership.

launchED products in Diverse markets

Over the past decade, I have performed a variety of consulting services, mostly focused on go-to-market strategies and research in young and diverse markets. I launched a children’s product from Palestine that is now in Nordstrom’s and other stores across the country. And among other businesses, I launched translation services in healthcare facilities and social services.

And Worked with banks and fintech to reach new segments

I worked on product, marketing and sales with fintech startups that either sold or remain profitable. And lastly, I have worked with many banks and lenders in improving their strategy to increase access and effectiveness in low-to-moderate income and BIPOC communities, resulting in increased loan volume and CRA compliance.

I’d love to get to know you, too!
